Letter to the Editor – Power of Judiciary

Sir, From October 16 to November 30 — a span of just 45 days — Lok Adalat, specially convened by the J&K High Court Chief Justice, disposed of 3,000 disputed cases of 540 families of earthquake victims in Kashmir, and resultantly disbursed 10 crores of rupees by way of relief. (TH Nov. 30).

Honourbale Chief Justice said,” I thought I could use the power of the judiciary for the right cause….”. It an admirable act of humanism and sense of duty towards the countrymen struck by ill fate. We would request Hon’ble Chief Justice to repeat his generous act of humanism plus the power of judiciary in hundreds of thousands of disputed cases of the three hundred thousand people of religious minority driven out by the terrorists from Kashmir valley in 1990.

Their cases have been hanging fire in various courts and offices of the State for last 15 years. Kashinath Pandit, 320-Jawahar Nagar, Talab Tiloo, Jammu – 180002, Email: knpandita@yahoo.co.uk.
